The Dow closed down almost 700 points after a better-than-expected jobs report kickstarted the trading day.

At 4:01 p.m. ET, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ preliminarily closed down 696  points (1.63%). The $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ was down 91 (1.54%) and $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ ended the day down  317 (1.63%).

With the rosy jobs reports, traders now see 97% odds that rates will stay put after the January and March FOMC meetings, based on fed funds futures trading reported CNBC.  March odds for a rate cut dropped to 25% following the jobs report, down from the previous day's 41% odds, according to the CME Fedwatch tool.
